Leonberger Association of Victoria Inc.

News

The Leonberger Association of Victoria was formed on the 27th September 2007 by the amalgamation of the the Lowe Dog Club of Victoria Inc and the Victorian Leonberger Association Inc and was granted incorporation, in its own right, on the 23rd October 2007. Our members are Leonberger owners, fanciers and breeders, with the common aim of working together to promote the Leonberger breed for the wonderful companion dogs that they are.

Below are the Official Results from the 2009 Royal Melbourne Show which was held on Wednesday 23rd September. The Leos proved to be very popular with the general public and were great ambassadors for the breed. They enjoyed all the attention they received and were happy to be patted and petted all day. Once again it was a day of introducing the breed to new friends.

Unfortuantely no photos are currently available from the day.

The Club had a busy 3 days at the 2009 Pet Expo held at Caulfield Racecourse between the 13th to the 15th February. Thanks to all those members who took time out of their busy schedule to help with the stand and bring along their dogs to show off our breed. The Leonbergers were as popular as ever and drew quite a crowd. Below are some photos from the expo.

The club had a stand at the 2008 Big Day Out For Dogs held under the auspices of DogsVictoria at KCC Park on the 14th December last. We were very fortunate, that after the heavy rain the of the prevous few days and in the early morning, the weather fined up. There were 20 Leonbergers present during the day including six 4 months old puppies. All the dogs had a ball interacting with one another and the people present. The photos below were taken of setting up the stand, people and Leos enjoying themselves around the stand and an inside shot of the stand. You can see other photos from the day on the homepage.

Members of the Club and their Leonbergers were invited to join the Companion Dog Club at the Wine and Dog Biscuit Tasting outing held at Tuck's Ridge Winery on Saturday 12th July 2008. Present on the day were Judy and Stuart with Ben, Lyndsay and Graham with Saffy and Kathy with Xari and Takoda. Kathy was also joined by her sister Vicky and Kuga, her Golden Retriever. About 20 dogs of many different breeds and sizes came along on the day. The day was very cold, but fortunately the rain held off and many of the dogs, including the Leos, made their way down to the off-leash area for a run and a swim in the dam. Below are some photos taken on the day of Ben and Kuga playing, Kathy and Vicky with Takoda and Saffy and Xari after a paddle.
